The conference is not the kind of conference that I use to
attend. This conference had focus on the social and human aspects of using information
technology for cooperation. Many of the participants had a background as psychologists
or sociologists. It was an interesting experience, and the presentations was quite interesting which was a surprise for me, who is more interested in technology that in the social impact of technology. Workflow Management is a topic and a technology that these people do not believe in. Much research has been done related to WFM in the 80’ and 90’ which have shown that manual work practice cannot be automated. Therefore my and Kjelds paper was quite a new thing for this community; A workflow system that actually works! The people that attended the presentation found the case study very interesting, and there were several good questions afterward.
I got in contact with Steven Poltrock, a I had the opportunity to stay a couple of days longer at the Island and together with my wife, who had joined my for the trip.

scientist. We both found it interesting to hear the others perspective of WFM.
