Presentation at Teknologisk developmer conference |
|
Friday, 01 December 2006 |
Wednesday
29/11 I gave a one hour presentation at a developer conference in Copenhagen. The presentation
was about experienced challenges in Danske Bank using a model driven
development process and tool support
from IBM. The talk presented a possible solution to the challenges and showed
prototype implementations of the solution. The talk was pretty much about the
same as I am going to present at the SOA modeling workshop at the International
Conference on Service Oriented Computing (ICSOC) the coming Monday, 4/12 2006. The
presentation was in Danish and can be found here.

Research Seminar for Software Development Group |
|
Thursday, 23 November 2006 |
Tuesday
evening and Wednesday, the research
group, software development group,
which I am a part of, held a research seminar at Dragør badehotel, Amager, Copenhagen. The seminar
was not about research, but about working practices. How do different people work and how do one
become more effective. The main purpose of the seminar was to spend time
together and at the same time talk about interesting things. The program was
set together by myself and my supervisor, Kasper Østerbye.
I think the
seminar was a great success, we had a nice time together and the different
sections where very interesting. I learned a lot from listening to the senior
researcher explaining how their daily working practices where.

Industrial PhD course, 2. module |
|
Wednesday, 15 November 2006 |
|
Monday and
tuesday this week, I spent at Pharmacon, Hillerød,
Denmark to join
the 2. module of the mandatory industrial course for Industrial PhD students. Because of restructuring of the course, I did not have to take the 1. module, as only newly started students has to take this module.
The course was very interactive including group works with blocks about the importance
of collaborations, the difficulties of being an Industrial PhD student, management
of researchers, portfolio management, fund raising and an introduction of how to
write the business report - a requirement to achieve the Industrial PhD certificate
after the regular PhD defence. The purpose of the course and the business report
is to make us researchers into business men - or at least force us to be aware
of commercial aspects of our research and how the company can benefit from
these. I liked the course, although some of the presentations did not deliver
what was promised.
