The 1. of May I got the wonderful news that my paper "BPM on top of SOA: Experiences from the Financial Industry" has been accepted as a full paper at the Business Process Management conferences, BPM2007, Brisbane, Australia.
Naturally, I am very happy for this, both because it will strengthen my thesis, and also because I am going to Australia :o)
The paper is an extract and a polish of the technical report, I previous published at this site an at the homepage of the IT University of Copenhagen.

I have been participating in
the Codegeneration 2007 conference which was held a Homerton
College, Cambridge, UK.
It has been one of the best events that I have participated in with lots of
interesting talks and people, and I have gained new knowledge, got knew ideas
for my PhD project and got new international contacts.
It has been a pleasure to
spend three days with about 90 other people who all understood terms as
meta-model, meta-meta-model, DSL, EMF, GMF, etc. without further explanation.

Technical report about BPM and SOA experiences |
|
Wednesday, 25 April 2007 |
Yesterday, I published a technical report at the homepage of the IT University of Copenhagen with the title "Early Experiences on adopting BPM and SOA: An Empirical Study". It is available from this site under Document downloads -> reports or from ITUs homepage under Research -> technical reports -> 2007.
The report is at 30 pages and describes the challenges experienced be the IT development team responsible for implementing a traditional manual business process as a workflow in a Business Process Management - or Workflow Management system. It further describes experiences from back office workers participating in the business process.
I have created the report for having a detailed description of my empirical studies. I have made a shorter version of the report with focus on only challenges on implementing a model of a business process as an executable workflow, which I have submitted for BPM2007.
