David Burman is the Director of Brahe. He received a B.A. in Political Science from Loyola  University, a Juris Doctor from Southwestern University School of Law and a Diploma in Graduate Legal Studies from Stockholm University. For 10 years he was Legal Counsel and Manager of Strategic Sourcing at Ericsson, and later he was legal counsel at the Swedish Ministry of Finance (International Tax Division), and was an attorney at Advokatfirman Lindahl (technology practice group).  Contact:

Betsy Devine, a Co-Director of Brahe and Chairperson of Eloquent Equations & Elegant Art 2017, currently Guest Curator at the Nobel Museum, Stockholm, is an American journalist, author and blogger, with a M.S.E. in engineering from Princeton University. Betsy is involved in several projects promoting good relations between China, the U.S. and Sweden. She has many years of immersion in geek sociology, including both Slashdot and Wikipedia flame wars. She is co-author with Frank Wilczek, of Longing for the Harmonies, an appreciation of modern physics and also, with biologist Joel E. Antti Niemi, a Co-Director of Brahe, is a chaired professor of theoretical physics in Sweden (affiliated with Uppsala University) and a Directeur de Recherche at CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) in France.  Antti is also part time Qian Ren professor at Beijing Institute of Technology, and distinguished visiting professor at the International Institute of Physics in Natal, Brazil.


His research has covered most aspects of mathematical and theoretical physics, and presently he works on fundamental physics of living matter. Antti has published over 150 scientific papers on a range of topics.


Antti received his PhD from MIT, and spent three years at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. He then joined the faculty of Ohio State University, and spent time as visiting professor at University of California at Berkeley. Subsequently he divided his time between Helsinki University and CERN,  the European Organization for Nuclear Research inGeneve before moving to Uppsala. He has also been a Chang Jiang visiting professor at Chern Institute of Mathematics at Nankai University, Tianjin. Contact:



Alexander Holland Burman, a Brahe Co-Director, received a B.A. in Business and Economics from Uppsala University and a Masters in Business and Management also from Uppsala University. He attended Georgetown University, studying alternative economic systems — transformation of American politics and public policy. While at Uppsala he was the winner of multiple international case competitions, During 2012, he was a trainee at the Swedish Trade Council in Sydney, Australia.


Currently, Alexander is a manager at Ernst & Young's Stockholm office (Advisory Services Group), focusing on performance improvement within the financial services industry) and served a term as the Executive Project Manager for EY Financial Advisory. Contact: Alexander Holland-Burman.



Brahe co-director Mira Wilczek is President and CEO of Cogo Labs and a Senior Partner at Link Ventures. Based in Boston, she serves on the Board of Directors for EverQuote, Cognius, and CareDash, and is an Advisory Board member at Vestigo Ventures. Prior to joining Cogo, Mira was founder and CEO of Red Panda Security, Principal Investigator under the DARPA CFT program, and Director of Business Development at Lyric Semiconductor, where she garnered industry recognition including TR50, Silicon 60, and an EE Times ACE Award and led the successful sale of the company to Analog Devices. She started her career as an ethical hacker at IBM, architecting their first automated penetration testing platform.


Mira holds patents both granted and pending in the fields of cyber security and sensor data fusion. She has an S.B. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management. Contact.
